Our Community
At the humble intersection of Highways 67 and 24, you'll find almost 3,000 of us who call this special place "home". It's a place where "rural" feels like freedom and the opportunities are endless. Only a short 30-minute drive to Macomb and just an hour drive from Quincy and the state capital, Springfield. Rushville offers a tranquil but versatile setting for active retirement.
We're small town folks that deliver on a big city scale with diverse retail, fabulous dining, rewarding employment, and stellar schools. There are two large recreation areas which include an 18-hole golf course, new community pool with lap swimming, walking paths and a 225-acre lake for fishing and boating. Within the city is a beautiful new public library, a playhouse, an opera house, a museum and genealogical center, Spoon River College, as well as a number of charming historic buildings. Also available is Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital and fully staffed clinics for your physician and medical needs.
Rushville’s newest additions include a 30,000-sq. ft. Fitness and Community Center which includes an indoor walking track, gymnasium, active senior weight room and an indoor pool in addition to group classes and a new state-of-the-art performing arts center. We're the home of America's oldest family-run pharmacy and the iconic Roger's Bakery.
The public square in the business district is noted for its beautiful landscaping, brick walks and gazebo bandstand. Rushville offers several stores, banks, churches, and restaurants. We eagerly support our small-business entrepreneurs and love our thriving arts community. Check us out. We're sure you'll agree: This is a great place to call "home"!
